The City of Bridges - A weekend in Hamburg

Did you know that Hamburg has more bridges than Venice, Amsterdam and London combined? Crazy, right?

I’ve discovered many of these bridges and corners of Hamburg before as I have been to the city many times, but never got a chance to completely explore the city on my own time. Which is why I was so happy to explore the city thoroughly together with the Hamburg tourism board.

We got to stay in the beautiful Ameron Hotel, located right in the heart of Hamburg, the Speicherstadt! Personally this is my favorite part of Hamburg. Our room had the perfect view of the Speicherstadt district. I can only recommend it!

After settling in to the hotel and making ourselves comfortable we set out to explore the city. The hotel is located in such a perfect area. It’s already in the heart of the Speicherstadt district, and the famous Elbphilharmonie concert house is just a 10 minute walk away! In between the Speicherstadt and the Elbphilharmonie lies many of Hamburg’s bridges, each more beautiful than the other. My favorite is the classic one with the Wasserschloss viewpoint (1st picture.)

Elbphilharmonie Concert House

Near the Elbphilharmonie Concert House there is also the possibility to go on a boat tour, and we did just that. The boat goes around the harbor with views of the Elbphilharmonie from the water as well.

After exploring the Speicherstadt and Elbphilharmonie we went to explore other parts of the city. We relaxed in the Planten un Blomen gardens, soaked in the views of the Jungfernstieg and even explored a few of Hamburg’s underground stations like the HafenCity Universität. We also took part in a chocolate factory museum tour at Chocoversum!

There are just so many activities and things one can do in Hamburg. This city has so much to offer and it’s got something for everyone! I definitely will be back in Hamburg one day, it’s always worth a visit! Thank you Hamburg Tourism for showing us your beautiful city!
